The process began by confirming that everyone who was present had their student's name in the bucket and then they added the rest and mixed them up. The first name called was a boy present with his mom and brothers! Everyone was excited for him. As the names progressed past 11 though, no one else present was called. We've waited too long for full day kindergarten in our schools. Loudoun is one of 3 districts in the state without universal full-day kindergarten and the only one without a majority of its kindergarteners in full day. We're the only county in the entire DC metro area without universal full-day kindergarten. We've seen plans drawn up and discarded, never implemented. Why are we accepting this?
It's past time for universal access to full-day kindergarten.
